London and S.E. Gaskell Society Meeting

Saturday 10 February, 2018, 12:45 pm - 4:30 pm GMT

£5

Emily Midorikawa & Emma Claire Sweeney on Literary Friendships

Emily and Emma have recently published a lovely book about female literary friendships. Although in their Bronte chapter they focused on Charlotte Bronte’s friendship with Mary Taylor they were sorely tempted to write about the Gaskell Bronte friendship. In a Q & A session (chaired by me!)  they will reveal their collaboration, their writing process and answer questions about the close friendship between Elizabeth Gaskell and Charlotte Bronte. Their book, which I warmly recommend, is an accessible and enjoyable read and we shall have copies for sale signing!!

The meetings are held at Francis Holland School for Girls, 39 Graham Terrace London SW1W 8JF

The venue is a three-minute walk from Sloane Street tube station, which is on the District and Circle line.

They begin at 2pm, usually last about an hour. Each talk is followed by questions, and then tea is served.

Before the meetings a sandwich lunch is available and everyone is welcome any time after 12.45pm.

At each meeting there is a bring and buy book stall in aid of The Gaskell House in Manchester so please bring books for sale, the bookstall always needs refreshment!!

The afternoon costs £5.00, which includes lunch and tea. Please contact me if you need more details.
