Our Chair\, Dr Diane Duffy (who LOVES a bit of Gothic!)\,  is back with a spellbinding new talk starting with Elizabeth Gaskell’s short story The Old Nurse’s Story. From there\, you can brave the supernatural stories of Catherine Crowe including The Night-side of Nature and her later contribution to Victorian Ghost Stories. Her real-life encounter with the occult once led her to being discovered running naked round Edinburgh late one night. \nNext up is the Four Ghost Stories and Uncanny Stories of Mary Louisa Molesworth\, once a resident of Manchester.
