Named as ‘Manchester’s best second-hand book sale‘ the Elizabeth Gaskell’s House second-hand book sale is a must visit for book lovers. Held within Manchester’s very own literary house, there are two rooms packed full of second-hand books of all genres. You can browse a wide variety of good quality contemporary fiction, crime, thrillers, classics, OS maps, biographies, history and children’s books.

Held every second Sunday of the month.

With new stock every month there are always literary treasures to be found!

Entry to the book-sale is included in admission to the House (tickets valid for 12 months).

Want to donate your books?

The House accepts donations of fiction and non-fiction* books. Small quantities of books (50 or less) can be dropped off on Wednesdays, Thursdays or Sundays between 11am-3pm.

Please call in advance on 0161 273 2215 if you have a larger donation of books to check we have the space to store them.

*Please note we don’t accept some types of non-fiction please phone to check first.
